On busy weekends, it’s tempting to go for some deep-fried convenience foods, but here’s why it’s important to consider healthier options.

After reading some of the truths about convenience foods, you may feel slightly more motivated to find a different option. Here are some of my favorite suggestions for succeeding through the weekend:

  1. Have a stash of “convenience foods” at home. This could be a frozen cauliflower crust pizza, seasoned tuna packets and crackers, frozen meatballs and mixed veggies, yogurt with seeds and granola. Have some of these on hand to make a quick meal.
  2. Make a fun food stop, but skip the fried options: get a smoothie packed with greens and protein powder. Order grilled chicken sandwiches instead of fried. Skip the French fries and get mixed fruit or a salad.
